Past & Present …
THE HISTORY OF THE NÜRNBERGER HÜTTE
After the founding of the German Alpine Association and the sections, an area was sought for an alpine hut. Originally planned in the Ridnauntal, but after some negotiations, the first hut was finally built in 1886 at its current location (living and sleeping area on the ground floor with hay storage on the top floor)
Due to the opening of the Becherhaus in 1894 and the construction of the Stubaitalbahn.
At that time very advanced and modern furnishing (gas, running water, heated drying room, 2 rooms with balcony, even a bathroom!)
From that point on there were:
– a ropeway for material transport
– a hydroelectric power station
– washrooms
– shower
– 4 cozy dining rooms
A wooden cross was built on the Niederl – as a thankful sign that there didn’t happen bad accidents during the tough construction.
Ignaz and Maria Siller took care of the guests and the hut.
The hard work and the cultivation of the hut was aggravated by environmental desasters (demage of the hydroelectric power station and the ropeway from avalanche and floods)
Complete renovation & restoration
– drinking water system, ropeway conversion for transport for own account, new hydroelectric power station, new sewage treatment plant, expansion of the drying room, fire protection, new kitchen, new veranda with indoor climbing wall and table tennis table, new sun terrace
– in the immediate vicinity of the hut 2 climbing crags and a fixed rope route were built
– cosiness and the character of an alpine hut were preserved
– processing of high quality products from our own farm
– perfect base for every kind of adventures in the mountains (hiking, fixed-rope-route, climbing …)

MORE DETAILLED TOUR

Continue in a south-westerly direction, always below the ridge that runs from the Urfallspitze to the Gamsspitzl. The path leads up to an altitude of approx. 3120 m, lastly directly on the ridge. Leave the rock ridge, which continues to climb upwards, cross the path to the left to the Grüblferner – at first close to the rocks, then over a firn / ice slope – towards the Signalgipfel (normally clear signs of inspection). At an altitude of approx. 3300 m you‘ll enter flat block terrain again, through which you easily reach the Signalgipfel (state border). Finally, in a north-westerly direction over the narrow rock and firn ridge to the main summit (3418 m). Descent like ascent.
